SOA specifies dns0.zoneedit.com. NS "Local" does not include.

The automatically generated SOA record for my zone looks like this:
@ IN SOA dns0.zoneedit.com. zone.zoneedit.com. 1478766262 3600 600
When I specify "LOCAL" for the creation of NS records, ZoneEdit creates two:
  • dns1.zoneedit.com.
  • dns2.zoneedit.com.
Those are also the name servers I entered at my registrar (GoDaddy).

But when I test the DNS at mxtoolbox.com, I get the following "error":

Primary Name Server Not Listed At Parent
dns0.zoneedit.com

Have I done something wrong that is causing the generation of an SOA record with no corresponding NS record?

hi there

dns0.zoneedit.com is our unpublished prim nary and should not be delegated to domain names.

Hello Sandy,

Thank you for your quick and clear response. Sounds like I have things configured properly.

This is the first time I've seen a DNS host that had an SOA without a corresponding NS. Even the examples in the DNS RFCs (RFC-1034 and RFC-1036) all show a corresponding NS record. So perhaps some people designing DNS tests assumed that it was a requirement.

Regards,
Fred
