Issues with t2.zoneedit.com and ns2.zoneedit.com?

Hello - is anyone else having issues with these two nameservers?

Our domain (longmeadow.k12.ma.us) is currently experiencing issues. Google Apps is reporting that there are no MX records for the domain, and when I do a lookup, it reports that there are no nameservers set for our domain.

I ran a trace at simpledns.com/lookup-dg.aspx for our domain, and it returns "Query Refused" when requests are sent to t2.zoneedit.com and ns2.zoneedit.com.

Can someone point me in the right direction? I'm not sure the issue is with ZoneEdit, so perhaps I'm missing something? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Also, when using nslookup to query our domain directly, I get the following:
ns2.zoneedit.com can't find longmeadow.k12.ma.us: No response from server
t2.zoneedit.com can't find longmeadow.k12.ma.us: No response from server

Hi there

on your zoneedit members page, click the Manage link next to the domain name then click the Domain Settings tab Click the orange txt 'Activate" to load the zone onto your servers. Please let me know when complete and I can check the zone for you. As zoneedit nameservers are not yet delegated at the domain registrar the zoneedit zone file will be loaded onto our servers but not publicly available.

thanks

Thank you Sandy; I just activated the settings for that domain.
I think it has always said inactive next to that domain, which seemed weird to me. Is there any reason why that would have worked up until this point?

I'm assuming this will take a little while to resolve in order for the new DNS to propagate as well?

Thank you very much for responding.

I'm sorry Sandy but I think this is beyond my abilities to be honest.
The domain is provided to us by the government I believe - I had originally pursued it with the state's education department, but no one knew who to contact, and others didn't answer at all. Are you saying it looks from your perspective like the issue is with the registrar?

Should I change anything or could I have caused some problem by "Activating"?

Thanks,
Nick

ahh I see.

the domain is delegated at the root to:

dig @b.cctld.us ns longmeadow.k12.ma.us

; <<>> DiG 9.8.3-P1 <<>> @b.cctld.us ns longmeadow.k12.ma.us
; (1 server found)
;; global options: +cmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 23763
;; flags: qr rd; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 5, ADDITIONAL: 0
;; WARNING: recursion requested but not available

;; QUESTION SECTION:

k12.ma.us. 7200 IN NS ns2.pir.net.

and then delegated to zoneedit in NS records.

dig @ns.amaranth.net ns longmeadow.k12.ma.us

; <<>> DiG 9.8.3-P1 <<>> @ns.amaranth.net ns longmeadow.k12.ma.us

and now the zone is loaded properly:

dig @t2.zoneedit.com mx longmeadow.k12.ma.us

; <<>> DiG 9.8.3-P1 <<>> @t2.zoneedit.com mx longmeadow.k12.ma.us

Sandy, it looks like stuff is starting to resolve properly again. You have been tremendously helpful, especially for a free product. Would it be possible for you to help me understand what happened?

It looked to be a syntax error in the zone file.... I could not pin point exactly where but most likely a before or trailing space was being saved to the zone and as such invalidating it.
