You're right; that did seem a bit too far back. Looks like the first .COM domain registered was 1985. The WHOIS information I retrieved from "whois.crazydomains.com" is cached and has false info. My apologies.

I did another lookup (via whois.internic.net) and received different results. 2004 seems more realistic, and the WHOIS database query is today's date and not 2020 like the one reported by whois.crazydomains.com.
