Hi, recently (starting soon after July 1 2021) DNS broke for my zoneedit zone
webarts.bc.ca
It resolves to a server named firewall.webarts.bc.ca
The webarts.bc.ca domain is a legacy free domain and is configured to use
dns1.zoneedit.com
dns2.zoneedit.com
It has been working well for years.

No changes had been made to any zone settings but now am getting errors and no name resolution
Errors I am seeing from online validation tools show either
  • The SOA record for the zone is required to be present in the primary Name Server and is not found. This usually means that the zone file is not setup properly in the primary Name Server host.
or
  • SOA Expire Value is out of recommended range.
or
  • SOA Serial Number Format is Invalid.
or
  • Primary Name Server Not Listed At Parent.

How can I fix this?
The zoneEdit dashboard has very limitted SOA configuration or ability to check.

Hi. firewall.webarts.bc.ca resolves to the IP address specified as a dynamic DNS record.

wget shows that the connection attempt is being passed to the server:

wget webarts.bc.ca

The DNS/SOA "errors" you are reporting seeing DO NOT affect the DNS resolution.

There are various errors that some DNS checking sites report that do not affect the overall functionality of your domain when using ZoneEdit.

These sites are configured to look for a set configuration when it comes to DNS, and any deviation from this will be flagged.
