Gmail auto response not working with "544 5.7.1 Relay access denied"

Hi everyone. I have a domain on ZoneEdit Legacy with mailmaps configured. For example,

me@mydomain.com -> myself@gmail.com

and then I've configured auto response on my Gmail.

When someone (e.g senderName@gmail.com) sent an email to myself@gmail.com, Gmail will auto reply without a problem. However, it will throw an error to me when the sender was sending to me@mydomain.com.

Here's a snippet of the error message:

The response from the remote server was:
554 5.7.1 <SRS0=Fnpr=C3=gmail.com=senderName@srszone.org>: Relay access denied

Final-Recipient: rfc822; SRS0=Fnpr=C3=gmail.com=senderName@srszone.org
Action: failed
Status: 5.7.1
Remote-MTA: dns; mx-caprica.zoneedit.com. (166.88.18.34, the server for the
domain srszone.org.)
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 554 5.7.1 <SRS0=Fnpr=C3=gmail.com=senderName@srszone.org>: Relay access denied
Last-Attempt-Date: Tue, 28 Nov 2017 19:55:51 -0800 (PST)
---------- Forwarded message ----------

And the message header of the email I received from sender shows that return path was <SRS0=Fnpr=C3=gmail.com=senderAddress@srszone.org>

So I'm suspecting there's something wrong with the SRS setting?

hi there

it appears that Gmail is trying to send from a mail server associated with the mail map... this will not work as mail maps are receive only. I am not sure what the fix is but hopefully there is a setting in the accounts area on Gmail to set and use the Gmail outgoing server in this type of configuration.

thanks
sandy
